The Yarn & Fiber Company in Derry, NH had a hand-dye workshop yesterday. We paid for the yarn we used, and the class was free! It was a lot of fun. Everyone made such gorgeous yarns! We had the option of using fingering (sock) yarn or worsted weight yarn, and we could make more than one if we wanted. I made a skein of sock yarn.
I love the way these colors came out! Those are not undyed spots in the first picture, just spots where the sun was hitting.
Jerry, one of the shop owners who was running the workshop, said it would be fun to dye a bunch of skeins and have a secret swap; dye the skein(s), then put them in a brown bag, mix them all up, and pick one at random. Everyone was loving the other dyed skeins. I think that's a fantastic Idea, and I would definitely participate!
I will watch for the next time they run this workshop. I'd love to do this again, and see what other colors and ideas I can come up with!
