After posting such encouraging news only an hour or so ago, the vet called and told me Roxie passed away shortly after 5 am. She was eight years old, and I remember the day I picked her up at the breeder's house. She was my most beloved, and winningest, dog, and I have lots of trophies to remind me of all the time we spent together, not only training and showing, but in hotel rooms and traveling together. She was a most wonderful travel companion and truly the best dog I've ever had in my life. My heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful vet I've had for over 10 years, whom I'm sure did everything he could to make her comfortable during her last days. He even told her for me that she was an awesome dog - our pet phrase.
I love you, Roxie!

I don't believe I've ever commented on your blog before, but I'm delurking to say that I'm sorry for your loss. I was touched by your descriptions and pictures these past few days, and saddened to hear this news. Thank you for sharing with us. Rest in peace Roxie.

Oh Caroline, I am so, so sorry. My beloved Sasha died when she was 8. You don't EVER want to lose them, but 8 is way too young.

I am so sorry! Eight years doesn't seem at all fair. Does the vet have any idea what happened? You are all in my thoughts.
